4.23.20 Half Dome in July

April 23, 2020

In honor of yesterday being EARTH DAY, I thought I would *finally share photos from the Half Dome hike my brother and I took last JULY! I almost can’t believe how much time has flown by since this trip … Half Dome permits are pretty difficult to get — so much so, that Alex and … More 4.23.20 Half Dome in July

1.17.20 Yosemite Photos Post 5; May Lake

January 17, 2020

Jim and I closed out our trip in Yosemite like we do on all of our National Park trips … with a surprising last hike that turned out to be our favorite! May Lake, located along the Tioga Pass, is a great six mile day hike, but it also makes a great overnight backpacking hike … More 1.17.20 Yosemite Photos Post 5; May Lake

1.6.20 December 2019 in Review

January 6, 2020

Before the first month of the new year slips on by as it tends to do, I wanted to squeeze in a quick December Lookback post from 2019! These posts have been a really fun way for me to reflect back on my months and really pause to give thanks for all of the fun … More 1.6.20 December 2019 in Review

12.4 November’s Lookback

December 4, 2019

November was simultaneously fast and slow. I enjoyed the first half of the month by going to concerts, finishing up my third Online Editing Class (woohoo!) on the weekends, and resurrecting my love of coffee-shop-reading! It was fun being in a different part of town for my classes … so I took advantage of my … More 12.4 November’s Lookback

12.2 Yosemite Photos Post 3; Mirror Lake

December 2, 2019

I’m skipping our Half Dome Hike Day for a moment here because I want to write a longer post about that later, and instead moving to the day after our big hike. We opted to start our day with a 7(ish)-mile loop to Mirror Lake, in The Valley. Parking in The Valley can be tough, so try to get … More 12.2 Yosemite Photos Post 3; Mirror Lake

11.5 October’s Review

November 5, 2019

OCTOBER IN HINDSIGHT Reading –  Go Tell It On The Mountain, by James Baldwin, is a literary classic about a boy named John in 1930s Harlem and his relationship to both his family and the church. It’s a coming-of-age story, loosely based on Baldwin’s own upbringing. It reminded me of one of those novels … More 11.5 October’s Review

8.15 Hiking to Cucamonga Peak

August 15, 2019

Cucamonga Peak, sitting at 8,862 ft elevation, is the second mountain in LA’s Six Pack of Peaks Challenge. It’s part of the San Gabriel Mountains in the San Bernardino National Forest, and it has one of the most beautiful summit views I have ever been to! This hike has quickly become one of my very favorites … More 8.15 Hiking to Cucamonga Peak

7.28 Our Death Valley Weekend: Day Three

July 28, 2019

I’m a little embarrassed about how long it’s taken me to write these Death Valley posts…I mean we took the trip in MARCH for crying out loud! Do any of you out there have any advice for making the time to really sit down and write? Do you schedule it into your week or daily … More 7.28 Our Death Valley Weekend: Day Three

7.14 June’s Lookback

July 14, 2019

The month of June was somewhat of a hectic one, as we spent an entire week with our Marty in the Vet ER, and then lots of trips back afterwards for followup appointments. And then there was lots of dog sitting our favorites: Lucy and Banjo. In the midst of all the craziness though, we … More 7.14 June’s Lookback

6.24 LA’s Mt. Wilson Hike

June 24, 2019

Today I wanted to share a couple of photos from a hike my friend, Julie, and I did the other weekend! We summited Mt. Wilson — the first of LA’s Six Pack of Peaks Challenge. We chose to park at Mt. Wilson Trailhead Park (free street parking!) and took Mt. Wilson Trail up to the top and … More 6.24 LA’s Mt. Wilson Hike

WHAT I'M READING:

maybe I would have gotten through this quicker *had* I been on vacation … 🌴
I wouldn’t identify this as “a great American novel” … written from someone on the outside. More interested to discuss the controversial topics that the writing/publishing of this book brought up, more than the story itself. 😕
Four badass (old) lady assassins…this was just very fun 🔪☺️
Had to snag this one, written by a professor at my alma mater (H2P!💙💛) Funny and endearing, sad at times … told through a fun therapy-like perspective. Cara is a true blue character.
